Very interesting article on the plasticity of the brain

I know this is somewhat unrelated to some of the previous -- and future -- blog entries, but I just read an absolutely amazing article on the plasticity of the brain. The article is about a blind painter (blind all of his life), who is non-the-less able to utilize his visual cortex to draw life-like images. The article also mentions another experiment, in which the brain adapted to being temporary blindfolded by utilizing the visual cortex resources for non-visual tasks.

I find the subject matter fascinating, and the article is very well-written and easy to understand! To all else who find the brain equally exciting, the article can be found by clicking here.

A blog Update about my summer so far is on its way. It should hopefully be ready within the next couple of days, and will also include pictures from my summer.
